\u00a0**before you read this, please know that my friend gave me permission to blog about his situation. So, no worries, I\u2019m not talking out of school here**<\/span><\/p>\n I had an IM conversation this weekend with a friend where he referred to himself as a hypocrite.\u00a0 It\u2019s stuck with me ever sense, his self-flagellation.\u00a0 He is a person of very deep faith who never ceases to impress me on his walk with Christ.\u00a0 He loves and fully embraces the Catholic Church and all of her teachings.\u00a0 He\u2019s a great person and his family is lucky to have him.<\/p>\n He slipped this week and went against his own very high moral standard and was so upset with himself for having done so.\u00a0 I can understand the disappointment he felt in himself and his feelings of failure.\u00a0 The standard he has set for himself is incredibly high, and I am in awe at how often he is able to meet it.<\/p>\n I\u2019m not sure I said the right things to him, and that\u2019s why it has haunted me.\u00a0 I don\u2019t like leaving things unsaid.\u00a0 What I wish I had said was:<\/p>\n That\u2019s what I wish I had said.\u00a0 I went with the ever more eloquent \u201cI\u2019m sorry.\u00a0 That sucks.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been there.\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019m not always as quick on my feet as I\u2019d like to be.\u00a0 It happens.<\/p>\n Will you do me a favor?\u00a0 Will you say a quick prayer for my friend?\u00a0 An Our Father? Something?\u00a0 Will you consider taking him to Mass or Adoration with you this week?
