The other day, I sent my mom copies of some of my most recent blog posts.\u00a0 She called me on the phone and said a bit wistfully, \u201cYou\u2019re such a talented writer.\u00a0 It\u2019s a shame that no one gets to read what you do.\u00a0 It just seems like a lot of time and effort for something no one sees.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ummmm\u2026.really, Mom?\u00a0 I know she doesn\u2019t get the internet or blogging.\u00a0 I know it\u2026..but really?\u00a0 I think she imagines that the only people stopping by are relatives, my poor friends who feel some sort of obligation, and that creepy guy from college.<\/p>\n
Can you do me a favor and say hi?\u00a0 Something simple like \u201cHi, Mom!\u00a0 I\u2019m reading from (your town here)<\/u> \u201d Then I\u2019ll print it out and mail it to her and she can see that it\u2019s more than the 5 sad people she\u2019s imagining.<\/p>\n
