I gave them up for Lent, so I will not say the words I so badly want to say.\u00a0 I\u2019m trying to not even think them.<\/p>\n
When #4 was at Children\u2019s Hospital, I learned that the big fear was that all this swelling would act as fertilizer to the bones around it. Those bones would grow at unpredictable rates and cause deformities in her little body.\u00a0 I asked about it and was told that this is a very rare occurrence so I shouldn\u2019t worry.\u00a0 Kids\u2019 bones either grow weirdly when there\u2019s long term swelling or they don\u2019t.<\/p>\n
Then we saw the orthopedist today.<\/p>\n
Sh\u2026.dang it.<\/p>\n
The x-ray of her foot shows\u00a0 that the bone in her swollen toe, swollen for almost 9 weeks now for those keeping track, has increased in width by approximately 50%.\u00a0 She\u2019s one of those kids.<\/p>\n
F\u2026..darn it.<\/p>\n
Her knee has been swollen now for almost 4 weeks.\u00a0 How long before it, too, starts to grow?\u00a0 I don\u2019t know what the cut off is, but I know there\u2019s nothing being done to actively stop it.\u00a0 While the doctors search for answers and the rheumatology appointment looms still 2 weeks in the future, her body is rebelling against her NOW.<\/p>\n
She\u2019s losing range of motion because of this wait. There are new problems being directly caused because of the waiting which will necessitate physical therapy at the very least.<\/p>\n
SHE\u2019S 7 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\u00a0 She\u2019s my baby.\u00a0 9 weeks ago her body was normal.\u00a0 5 weeks ago she was running and playing.\u00a0 Today I had to carry her upstairs because her leg hurts so much.\u00a0 Today she asked me if it would be hard to get a wheelchair because she\u2019d really like one.\u00a0 It would be easier for her.\u00a0 She\u2019s 7 and asking for a wheelchair.<\/p>\n
D\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.<\/p>\n
