Last night an hour after bedtime, the Computer Guy and I heard the sound of voices from upstairs.\u00a0 At least two of the boys were not asleep.\u00a0 After a quick game of \u201cnot me!\u201d, it was decided that I should be the lucky one to go put them back to bed. ( I\u2019m not a fan of that.\u00a0 The stairs are steep.\u00a0 There are a lot of them.\u00a0 It\u2019s dark at night.\u00a0 There are vampires in the dark.\u00a0 The usual complaints.)\u00a0 As I got to the top of the stairs, I could see a light on in the bedroom of #\u2019s 2 and 6.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m going to kill them,\u201d their loving mother muttered.\u00a0 \u201cWhy can\u2019t they just go to sleep like normal people?\u201d<\/p>\n
I felt myself getting more irritated the closer I got to their room.\u00a0 #6 is only 2.\u00a0 What was his brother thinking to be playing with him so late?\u00a0 He\u2019s not so fun on too little sleep.<\/p>\n
I adjusted my face into the mommy \u201cI\u2019m not happy and you might die\u201d scowl and opened their door.<\/p>\n
There in front of me were both of my sons curled up under the covers of the elder one\u2019s bed.\u00a0 The two year old was holding a rosary in his chubby hands and repeating the words of his brother. \u201c\u2026lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of thy Mercy,\u201d he said in his sweet little boy voice.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s going on guys?\u201d their humbled mother asked.<\/p>\n
#2 looked a bit embarrassed to be caught breaking rules and answered, \u201cHe was scared of the rain and lightning, so we\u2019re praying the rosary, but I can\u2019t remember the 5th sorrowful mystery.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cCrucifixion.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought so. Is it okay if we finish before we turn out the lights?\u201d<\/p>\n
I told him yes and closed the door behind me.\u00a0<\/p>\n
We\u2019re pretty strict at enforcing bedtimes, but praying with your little brother?\u00a0 Yeah.\u00a0 You don\u2019t get in trouble for that.<\/p>\n
