and there was no one left to speak out for me.<\/b>\u00a0 \u2013Martin Niem\u00f6ller<\/a><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\nThis past week, the Department of Health and Human Services under the Obama Administration violated the First Amendment\u2019s Religion Clause by preventing the freedom of Catholics in the United States to freely practice our religion.\u00a0 To a practicing Catholic, our faith is more than the church service we attend on Sunday mornings or the ashes we wear at the beginning of every Lent.\u00a0 Our faith is the governing force by which we live our lives.<\/p>\n
With its Contraception\/Sterilization Mandate<\/a>, the Obama Administration has taken direct aim at the Catholic Church through our foundational beliefs in the value of every<\/i> human life and in the supremacy of God over us which are the driving forces behind our stance on these controversial issues.\u00a0 Their demand that Catholics provide access to medical procedures and pharmaceuticals which we hold to be intrinsically evil and certainly against the very roots of the faith we profess is an affront to every American.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Their unconstitutional mandate has left American Roman Catholics in the position of choosing between obedience to God and obedience to the State. <\/p>\n
How have we arrived at a place where United States citizens are confronting the dilemma of choosing between their faith and being American?\u00a0 This is the country raised on the tales of the Pilgrims\u2019 flight from England in order to escape religious persecution.\u00a0 The American colonies were begun with the ideal that all men had a right to practice their faiths according to the actual tenets<\/i> of those religions and not according the whims and permissions of the government.\u00a0 We were revolutionary in the concept that our inalienable rights were derived from our Creator and not from the largesse of a sovereign or legislature.<\/p>\n
President Obama has, through his Department of Health and Human Services, turned his back upon almost 400\u00a0 years of American history.\u00a0 With this one Mandate, he has trampled upon the intentions of our Founders who so fervently believed in the rights of people to worship (or not worship) and to believe (or not believe) as they saw fit that it is the first right enshrined in the Bill of Rights<\/p>\n
\nCongress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof<\/span><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\nI have heard many people say \u201cI do not agree with the Catholic Church\u2019s stance on contraception.\u201d\u00a0 No one is asking for you to do so.\u00a0 It is sufficient enough that we <\/i>believe it. <\/p>\n
Those who would frame this as a debate on reproductive rights are being misled or are attempting to mislead.\u00a0 This attack by the Obama Administration is not about sexual rights.\u00a0 It is about our religious freedom and the very Liberty which every American considers his\/her birthright.\u00a0 With this decision, United States Government has granted itself authority and jurisdiction over every<\/i> church, synagogue, mosque and cathedral\u00a0 and allowed themselves the power to enforce their own secular worldview upon all <\/i>believers.<\/p>\n
It is in light of this that we call upon you, our brother Americans, to stand with us against this unjust and breathtaking power grab.\u00a0 Do not be deceived into thinking that it ends with us or with this ruling.\u00a0 The very Right of Religious Freedom is at stake.<\/p>\n

What can you do to help?\u00a0 Contact your Senators<\/a> and Representatives <\/a>and tell them that government oppression is intolerable.\u00a0 Call the US Dept of Health and Human Services<\/a> and tell them that their power grab will not succeed.\u00a0 Call the White House<\/a> and remind them that the United States threw out one tyrant with King George and we won\u2019t hesitate to do it again!<\/i>
