Last night was prom night for the homeschoolers in Oklahoma City.\u00a0 Our first baby got all dolled up in the dress she had so carefully chosen, met her closest friends for dinner, hopped into their limo, and then danced the night away.\u00a0\u00a0 It was like a typical prom anywhere in the country\u2026..which seems to surprise a lot of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t know who they\u2019ve met, but these are the \u201cnerdy\u201d homeschoolers I know.\u00a0 (#1 and her bff M)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Homeschooled students seem to have a reputation for awkwardness and being socially inept.\u00a0 They\u2019re the un-cool and naive\u2026.or so people seem to think.<\/p>\n

When we tell people that our children learn at home, we often hear \u201cBut what about socialization?\u00a0 They have to learn to get along with other people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

They look as if they get along with others just fine to me.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

It was like any other prom, the girls danced and the boys stood around the walls and watched.\u00a0 Unlike the other kids, they finished out the evening with a little Thriller.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n
