We haven\u2019t played \u201cRandom Mom Facts\u201d in a while.\u00a0 For those of you who are new, one of these is completely made up and the others are sadly true.\u00a0 There are no prizes for being right, it\u2019s just amusing to me to see what people think I will actually do.<\/p>\n
1. While I\u2019ve eaten all kinds of weird stuff like crickets and lamb eye balls, I\u2019ve never eaten lobster.\u00a0 Absolutely true.\u00a0 I\u2019ve had friends from a variety of cultural backgrounds who have treated me to ethnic cooking.\u00a0 Their cuisines never included expensive shellfish.<\/b><\/p>\n
2. The Computer Guy and I didn\u2019t announce our pregnancy with #1 until 2 weeks before she was born.\u00a0 We just kept waiting for me to show and it to be obvious.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t show.\u00a0 It was awkward telling people.\u00a0 True.\u00a0 I\u2019m so sorry to all of you who show early.\u00a0 #1 went straight up into my ribcage and never went very far out.\u00a0 We were reluctant to tell people because she was born a little too soon after the wedding.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n
3. One of my early childhood memories is of my dad running over a giant snake with our VW bus.\u00a0 It was he size of a speed bump.\u00a0 The snake was so long that we couldn\u2019t see either end of it.\u00a0 It was the Philippines.\u00a0 The snakes are big there.\u00a0 True.\u00a0 Night time in the Philippines.\u00a0 The snake went from jungle on one side of the road into jungle on the other side.<\/b><\/p>\n
4. My freshman year of college, I went to class in pig slippers at least twice a week.\u00a0 I also regularly had a green mud mask on my face in Trig.\u00a0 True.\u00a0 To be honest, the mud mask was worn to my trig study group immediately after class which was all girls.\u00a0 The thinking was that if we put on the masks we\u2019d at least get clear skin out of the whole thing.<\/b><\/p>\n
5. When I was living in California, I talked my way out of a traffic ticket by breaking out my twangiest Texas drawl and convincing the police officer that where I<\/i> was from the traffic signs didn\u2019t mean the same thing as they do in California.. True.\u00a0 Twangy Texan and a cute smile can get you out of a heap of trouble.<\/b><\/p>\n
6. When I was 16, my parents gave me permission to paint my room black and white.\u00a0 That night, as they slept, I moved all the furniture out of my room, painted the whole thing, and had the furniture back in by the time they woke up in the morning. It went from girly pink flowers to modernist geometrics in less than 8 hours.\u00a0 True.\u00a0 My poor parents.<\/b><\/p>\n
7. I once talked my way from a C to an A in poli sci, and then kept talking until the entire class got an A too.\u00a0 True.\u00a0 And to answer Lauren \u2014 I wasn\u2019t the socialist the teacher was.\u00a0 The final, 60% of our final grade was comprised entirely of 200 opinion based questions.\u00a0 It took several hours, an encyclopedia, and the dean of the English department to prove that opinion questions can never truly be incorrectly answered.\u00a0 We all got perfect scores on the final.\u00a0 The professor never used that test again.<\/b><\/p>\n
8. I once kissed a famous movie star.\u00a0 I\u2019m not saying who, but it did \u201cmake my day.\u201d\u00a0 Yup.\u00a0 I worked at an upscale hotel close to Pebble Beach.\u00a0 There were movie stars there all the time.\u00a0 I met Mr Eastwood, shook his hand and kissed his cheek. He\u2019s just as nice in person as you\u2019d hope.<\/b><\/p>\n
9. I\u2019m terrified of heights and went bungie jumping to get over that fear.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t work.\u00a0 Having someone push you off of a platform to your certain death doesn\u2019t make the fear of heights go away.\u00a0 It makes you afraid of people on platforms.\u00a0\u00a0 False.\u00a0\u00a0 I never got pushed off a bungie platform.\u00a0 I\u2019m scared of heights.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n 10. I once saved a small boy from drowning in a swimming pool.
