There are a few things which have been bugging me lately.\u00a0 I have a friend I usually grouse about these things with, but she\u2019s moving this week, so we haven\u2019t gotten to talk.\u00a0 Then I thought to myself, \u201cSelf, you should tell the Internets. They will understand.\u201d<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s what\u2019s bugging me\/My opportunities for sainthood<\/p>\n
1. I hate the voice recognition thing when I call the electric department.\u00a0 I used to think that \u201cPress 1 for\u2026\u201d was annoying.\u00a0 Then they introduced the whole \u201cSay 1 for\u2026\u201d and I longed to be able to simply press a number.<\/p>\n
It doesn\u2019t matter where I hide in my house.\u00a0 I\u2019ve even tried hiding in my husband\u2019s closet with the door closed.\u00a0 The children always come and find me. They shriek \u201cI\u2019ve found her!\u00a0 She\u2019s hiding in the garage under the car!\u201d and the stupid thing says \u201cReturn to Main Menu\u201d and I have to start all over again. \u00a0 The three year old can get it to switch to Spanish with a high pitched shriek and the 1 year old\u2019s cry must sound as if I\u2019m done because it will invariably reply \u201cThank you for calling.\u00a0 Good bye.\u201d<\/p>\n
2. Those little dots I get when I type in my password.\u00a0 Can secrecy be an option?\u00a0 I get that if I were online at McDonald\u2019s while the children were in the playplace ( I would never do this.\u00a0 I watch my children play for hours and never get bored by the \u201cWatch me slide again, Mommy!\u201d ) then I would want my password to be concealed.<\/p>\n
But at home?\u00a0 I want to know what I\u2019m typing because sometimes I think I may have messed it up.\u00a0 But then I\u2019m not really sure I\u2019ve messed it up, so I delete it anyway.\u00a0 I have to.\u00a0 I only get so many tries with some websites before they lock me out for 24 hours.\u00a0 If I had that kind of time I\u2019d go do stuff in person.\u00a0 I\u2019m in a hurry, that\u2019s why I\u2019m doing stuff online in the first place.<\/p>\n
Can the computer people not give me and option?\u00a0 \u201cClick here for password protection.\u201d\u00a0 That\u2019s all I\u2019m saying.<\/p>\n
3. The Computer Guy and I went to look at cars this weekend.\u00a0 Big giant church bus vans.\u00a0 The sales man was great.\u00a0 He seemed to get exactly what we wanted.\u00a0 (He was new.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure that they\u2019ll beat the helpfulness out of him at some point.) We explained to him that our car is paid off and seats everyone, but our boys are growing and something bigger is in our near future.\u00a0 We also told him that we can hold out for a good deal but will buy now if the price is right.\u00a0 He showed us everything they have in behemoth transportation.<\/p>\n
He was great.\u00a0 The manager who was supposed to tell us the price was not.\u00a0 He refused to give us a price on two of the three vans because \u201cYou aren\u2019t ready to buy today.\u201d\u00a0 Really?\u00a0 We brought our checkbook and the title for our trade in.\u00a0 Then on the third van he told us a price which was way high.\u00a0 I smiled sweetly and said \u201cThe place in Dallas has the same model with fewer miles for $6000 less than you are asking.\u201d\u00a0 He replied \u201cI hope you enjoy the drive to Dallas.\u201d<\/p>\n
I thought the economy was tanking.\u00a0 It\u2019s not.\u00a0 It\u2019s so good that they won\u2019t even sell you a car when you show up ready to talk numbers.\u00a0\u00a0 I guess people don\u2019t talk numbers anymore, they talk \u201cWhat kind of payment can you afford?\u201d\u00a0 Maybe that\u2019s why the economy is tanking.<\/p>\n
Just a thought.<\/p>\n
4. Waiting is killing me.\u00a0 We\u2019re moving in the Spring.\u00a0 (Did you know?)\u00a0 I\u2019m ready to just go.\u00a0 Let\u2019s rip the band aid off and stop prolonging the agony.\u00a0 I\u2019m not a patient person.\u00a0 Can we just go already?<\/p>\n
5. The 3 year old is the size of a kindergartner and still not potty trained.\u00a0 He adamantly refuses to even sit near the potty, forget about on it.\u00a0 My Achilles heel of mothering is potty training.\u00a0 I\u2019m not good at it.\u00a0 Eventually they just get tired of listening to me and give in.\u00a0 I hear about people who can teach their kids in a day or a weekend.\u00a0 It takes me months of begging, pleading, bribing and yelling to get there.\u00a0 Is there someone I can hire for this?\u00a0 Do you have their number? <\/p>\n
