I spoke this afternoon with my sweet boy\u2019s teacher.\u00a0 \u201cHe is easily the best liked boy in the 3rd grade,\u201d she told me.\u00a0 She explained that he didn\u2019t seem to have any of the social prejudices of his classmates.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t notice race, sex or social status when picking friends, he just likes everyone, so they like him in return.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never had a student who was so good at getting the whole class together to play at recess.\u00a0 He leaves no one out and assigns them each a part. He even found a part for Clint.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clint is a boy in his class who was born with several congenital deformities.\u00a0 He is 8 years old and the height of my 3 year old, and his right hand has only 3 fingers.\u00a0 He was shunned by his classmates for all of 2nd grade, and this year decided not to even try.\u00a0 He simply sat down on the sidewalk during recess and waited for it to be over.<\/p>\n

#3 was having none of that.\u00a0 He walked over to his classmate and asked him why he didn\u2019t want to play.\u00a0 \u201cThere is nothing for me to do,\u201d Clint told him with a shrug.<\/p>\n

\u201cAre you kidding?\u201d my son asked.\u00a0 \u201cWe\u2019re playing Star Wars and you\u2019d be an awesome Yoda.\u00a0 He\u2019s short and has three fingers, too!\u201d\u00a0 A slow smile spread over Clint\u2019s face, and then my son and his Jedi Master ran off to defend the Universe.<\/p>\n
