After 9 1\/2 years as cable television subscribers, we decided we won\u2019t take one more rate hike.\u00a0 The content has gotten worse as the cost has gotten higher.\u00a0 We can no longer justify the impact on our family of either one.\u00a0 The cable has to go.<\/p>\n
When did MTV stop playing music?\u00a0 When did Cartoon Network stop being for children?\u00a0 When did the news networks become political talk shows?\u00a0 When did it happen that the only decent dramas on TV were in Spanish?<\/p>\n
Call me old fashioned if you want to, but I want my news stations to report the news, my kids to be the ones who watch cartoons, and gosh darn it I want my MTV!!!!!\u00a0 And I want it to cost less than my mortgage to get it.<\/p>\n
I called the cable company this morning and bid them adieu.\u00a0 The smug guy on the phone became less smug when I told him I didn\u2019t need his trash TV any longer.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat will you do for entertainment instead?\u201d he read from the script.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d I told him, \u201cbut I\u2019m going to start off by playing with my kids.\u201d<\/p>\n
