Six years ago,\u00a0 your siblings stood on the front porch watching lightning dancing across the night sky.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s fireworks,\u201d your Opa said.\u00a0 \u201cGod is so happy that you have a sister that he\u2019s putting on a show.\u201d\u00a0 They sighed in wonder at the joy of God.<\/p>\n

You were such a bitty thing all curled up in our arms.\u00a0 Almost called Horatio, you slept easily with your great-grandmother\u2019s name as your own.<\/p>\n

For so long, you have wanted only to be unnoticed. Your shyness has been such a handicap in your life.\u00a0 The thought of new people, the very sight of them has been such agony.\u00a0 And yet\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n

What a paradox you are my sweet daughter.\u00a0 The girl who hopes to be invisible yet dresses in sequins from head to toe.\u00a0 Brilliant neon tutus are your clothing of choice, but you hope that nobody looks as you go twirling by.<\/p>\n

What a world you have created for yourself.\u00a0 Color and spangles, light and laughter.\u00a0 You are the butterfly slowly emerging.\u00a0 I can\u2019t wait to see what you choose to become, but I\u2019m sure you will be a sight to behold.<\/p>\n
