Putting together the wedding invitations with the navy ribbon through them?\u00a0 What was I thinking? <\/li>\n
The standoff between me and the pastor over the \u201cAve Maria\u201d?\u00a0 We almost had to find a new church the week before the wedding because I insisted on having it and he insisted that it had no place in a Lutheran church.\u00a0 Thanks to my brother and his saxophone, we had it after all.<\/li>\n
The way you smiled when my dad walked me down the aisle?\u00a0 I\u2019ve seen that same smile when our babies were born.\u00a0 It\u2019s a mixture of pure joy and pure terror.\u00a0 I love it.<\/li>\n
Your dad crying through the whole wedding?\u00a0 He was so certain you\u2019d made a mistake.\u00a0 I\u2019m glad he can laugh about it now. <\/li>\n
My promising to obey?\u00a0 I\u2019m still working on that one.<\/li>\n
That Pastor Q didn\u2019t say \u201cYou may kiss the bride\u201d because kissing is inappropriate in church?<\/li>\n
The kiss you planted on me as soon as we got out the door?\u00a0 Ooh-la-la<\/li>\n
Driving away from the church in your baby blue truck just as it started to rain?<\/li>\n
Our reception at the Bricktown Brewery?\u00a0 I hear the food was amazing.\u00a0 We will never know.<\/li>\n
How hard we laughed when your grandpa teased us about someday having six children? <\/li>\n
Our photographer disappearing for almost an hour during the reception?\u00a0 It could only happen to us.\u00a0<\/li>\n
My RED fingernails?\u00a0 That\u2019ll teach the manicure lady to assume all brides want a French manicure!\u00a0 Ha! <\/li>\n
That the one bite of cake from when we cut it and the drink from our toast were all we had to eat or drink at the reception?\u00a0 It sure was a tasty bite.<\/li>\n
That we decided not to freeze the top layer, because who wants to eat year old cake?\u00a0 Yuck.<\/li>\n
The cloud of bubbles we walked through when we left?\u00a0 Our family and friends sure can blow.<\/li>\n
Watching me pull all the pins out of my hair and then laughing because it never moved?\u00a0 All that hairspray held it up.\u00a0 I think that hair may be the cause of Global Warming.<\/li>\n
That I fell asleep across the foot of the bed within minutes of getting to the hotel room?\u00a0 So much for romance!<\/li>\n
Dinner at Bellini\u2019s the next day?\u00a0 I can\u2019t ever eat there without smiling and thinking about how proud and happy I was to be your wife.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
14 years ago today.\u00a0 It\u2019s all gone so quickly.\u00a0 I thought I knew what love was that day.\u00a0 I now know that I had no idea.<\/p>\n
