Our girls have now been gone for a week and a half.\u00a0 We miss them terribly, but the boys have enjoyed the freedom of a girl-free house.\u00a0 All but one.<\/p>\n
Yesterday afternoon, #1 called as I was making lunch.\u00a0 Without thinking, I switched her to the speakerphone and set the phone on the kitchen counter.\u00a0 As her laughter sounded in the kitchen, a voice cried out from the next room, \u201cMaw-Dee?\u201d (His pet name for her.)\u201dMaw-Dee!\u201d<\/p>\n
He sped into the room as fast as his little legs could carry him.\u00a0 \u201cMy Maw-Dee!\u201d He exclaimed as he snatched my phone and she squealed, \u201c#5!\u00a0 I love you!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWuv oo.\u201d He replied, then they began to run through all of their funny inside jokes.\u00a0 He talked to her for almost half an hour, telling her about the show on TV, the color of the sky, anything he could think of just to keep her talking.\u00a0 Eventually, she had to go and sadly told him goodbye.<\/p>\n
That half hour conversation was not enough for #5.\u00a0 When he got up from his nap, he stole my phone off of its charger and put it in his pocket.\u00a0 What followed was an afternoon long conversation between him and the phone.\u00a0 \u201cSee, Maw-Dee?\u00a0 See the bird?\u201d\u00a0 \u201cI like cookies, Maw-Dee.\u00a0 Are you playing with my train and cars and helicopter?\u201d<\/p>\n
It didn\u2019t seem to bother him that she wasn\u2019t answering him.\u00a0 She is his Maw-Dee, so she\u2019s always listening.\u00a0 At bedtime he told the phone, \u201cNight-night Maw-Dee.\u00a0 Kiss me good night.\u201d\u00a0 He kissed the phone and placed it back in my hand.<\/p>\n
When we began to homeschool, people told us of the close relationships which would develop between our children.\u00a0 What these two have is beyond anything I even knew to hope for.<\/p>\n
