I spent the day today with my Mother in Law, my two daughters and the baby.\u00a0 It was a lovely way to spend the day.<\/p>\n
Several times today, I thought back to the times right after we were married.\u00a0 Times when my in-laws and I circled and danced around each other trying to figure out the rules in this newly formed extended family.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t that we didn\u2019t like each other, I was just an unlikely addition to the family circle.<\/p>\n
They are calm, quiet people.\u00a0 They like to go with the flow and live life calm, comfortable and easy.\u00a0 I am loud and energetic.\u00a0 I like to run up the down escalator of life and sing in the rain.\u00a0 Neither of us are what the other pictured when we daydreamed about what our future family would look like.<\/p>\n
But there was the Computer Guy.\u00a0 We all love him.\u00a0 A little bit madly.<\/p>\n
There was a day, too long after that June wedding when I stopped struggling against the confines of my new family and decided to just be me in the middle of them all.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Imagine my surprise when they were delighted with the addition.\u00a0 They weren\u2019t sure they cared for the person I pretended to be in order to fit in, but when I gave up all pretenses and just was myself\u2026then my place in the group became a natural fit.\u00a0 We are nothing alike in temperament, but we are the balance in my husband\u2019s life.\u00a0 I bring the excitement, and they bring the calm.\u00a0 It blends together to make joy.<\/p>\n
His life would not be complete without either side.\u00a0 It took us all a while to recognize that fact.\u00a0 Once we did, we realized that our lives wouldn\u2019t be complete without each other either.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
