She looked over my shoulder earlier this week while I was blogging and sighed \u201cI have a name\u2026I\u2019m more than a number.\u201d I explained to her about google and the internet and her own privacy, and she shook her head at me. \u201cThey\u2019re all praying for me with a number\u2026.I have a name.\u201d<\/p>\n

And she\u2019s right. She does.<\/p>\n

Her name is Ella.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re going to pray for her, worry for her, and help us look for answers\u2026.the least we can do is tell you her name.<\/p>\n

I asked her to select a picture that she thought looked like her and she chose this one:<\/p>\n

before the arthritis\u2026before the scooter accident that knocked out her permanent teeth and broke her jaw\u2026just her\u2026strong and healthy. It\u2019s the girl she hopes to be again someday, and the person she still is in her own mind.<\/p>\n

But I also like this one:<\/p>\n

Older\u2026stronger in so many ways\u2026the bravest person I know.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s been complaining lately that, even though she\u2019s crazy shy, she misses people. She\u2019s starting to feel a little cooped up here in the house and the few places that she can easily go.<\/p>\n

So she\u2019s started a blog<\/a>. Not much writing if any, just her artwork. She spends a lot of time drawing\u2026she needs it the same way that I need to write\u2026it\u2019s visceral to us.<\/p>\n

If you have some time, stop by and tell her hi. Look at the wondrous things she creates. <\/p>\n

I asked her what she\u2019d like the world to learn about her and she shrugged and then said \u201cI\u2019m more than arthritis and weak legs. That\u2019s nothing about me.\u201d<\/p>\n

She\u2019s right. She\u2019s not a number or the condition of her legs. She\u2019s my amazing girl, and I\u2019m thrilled to be able to share her with the world.<\/p>\n
