\u201cOffer it up.\u201d\u00a0 My children hear this dozens of times a day.\u00a0 \u201cOffer it up for the poor souls in Purgatory.\u00a0 Work on your parade.\u201d\u00a0 Some day they will get to Heaven, and the souls they have helped will be there to thank them.\u00a0 I imagine it will look like a parade of people, a mad Mardi Gras parade with horns, umbrellas, and dancing.\u00a0 I tease the children that they will be holding signs saying \u201cThanks for eating the broccoli\u201d or \u201cNo whining with the stomach flu.\u00a0 You rock!\u201d\u00a0 It may not be that way in the Catechism, but that\u2019s how it is in my mind.<\/p>\n
I did some serious work today.\u00a0 I went in for allergy testing.\u00a0 110 mini-shots to see if we can figure out the mouth swelling and constant cough.\u00a0 I am covered in writing and marks from shoulder to wrist on both arms.\u00a0 I offered it up for my Lenten intentions (My prayer buddy lucked out today), and the poor souls in Purgatory,\u00a0 just the way my grandmother taught me.<\/p>\n
We still know nothing.\u00a0 I have some sort of super-immune system. (I\u2019m not making this up, the doctor told me.)\u00a0 I would start to produce a welt, and then it would disappear.\u00a0 Nothing lasted long enough to be counted.\u00a0 My super immunity just shrugged its shoulders at each spot and then wiped out the irritant.\u00a0 I can produce some anti-histamine.\u00a0 Something I excel at, at last.\u00a0 Writing and anti-histamine production.\u00a0 There are worse talents to have.<\/p>\n
The nice doctor refuses to quit searching for a cause.\u00a0 He ordered a blood allergy test because my immune system can\u2019t defeat that test.\u00a0 If it were any other time of the year I\u2019d be asking why we didn\u2019t start there, but it\u2019s Lent so I\u2019m just offering it up and working on my parade.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
