The long delayed honeymoon I wrote about here<\/a> will not be happening.

We have hospital bills from when #3 found out that Legos are non-digestible, and now our master bath shower is causing rain in our classroom.\u00a0 Two strikes and our financial reserves are depleted.\u00a0 When the Fun Fund is empty, the Computer Guy and I stay home.\u00a0 It\u2019s the reality of living within our means.<\/p>\n

Instead of whisking my sweetheart away to Carmel-by-the-Sea in California and spending four days of quiet rest, we will be showering in the children\u2019s bathroom and hiring someone to redo the plaster on the ceiling downstairs.\u00a0 I\u2019ll admit to shedding a few tears of disappointment over the ruin of all my plans, but am also grateful that I did not choose to take the discount afforded by pre-paying our hotel.<\/p>\n

On the up-side, I\u2019ve discovered what a treat the children\u2019s bathroom is.\u00a0 It is bright and airy with a large skylight and cheerful walls.\u00a0 It feels like taking a shower at the beach, and I love the beach.<\/p>\n

This whole experience has me rethinking my own decorating decisions with the master bath.\u00a0 I loved the oyster gray walls because I thought the plainness of them would be soothing, instead it is boring and plain.\u00a0 I\u2019m now pondering color schemes and design fixes.\u00a0 If you can\u2019t go somewhere for a change of scenery, then change the scenery around you.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s our romantic vacation, a $20 bucket of paint and maybe a new shower curtain.\u00a0 I\u2019m trying to shrug it off and tell myself that the 15th anniversary is more of a honeymoon year anyway.\u00a0 Who wants to take a romantic trip for their 14th anyway? \u00a0 me.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
