Many noted it was unusual for a major pop concert to begin with such an overt display of faith. Reels and social media clips have been shared widely by fans.<\/p>\n
The 40-year-old singer, whose full name is Peter Gene Hernandez, has long been one of the music industry\u2019s most reliable draws. Born in Honolulu on Oct. 8, 1985, to a Filipino mother and a Puerto Rican father with Jewish ancestry, Mars grew up performing. As a child he was known as \u201cLittle Elvis\u201d for his impersonations in his family\u2019s band. Las Vegas has been a second home for the performer. He completed a record-setting residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM and drew hundreds of thousands of visitors over more than a decade. In April, just before the tour opener, city officials renamed the street outside the theater Bruno Mars Drive and presented him with a key to the city. The \u201cRomantic Tour,\u201d his first major world tour in nearly a decade, features 80 dates through December and includes guest appearances by Anderson.Paak, Leon Thomas and others.<\/p>\n
