Warner Brothers released the first trailer for \u201cJust Mercy,\u201d starring Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx, and Brie Larson. In the true story, Jordan plays Bryan Stevenson, a young attorney who begins a crusade to rescue the innocent from prison and death row.<\/p>\n

The film is based on Bryan Stevenson\u2019s bestselling book, Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption<\/em>. \u201cJust Mercy,\u201d produced by Gil Netter (\u201cLife of Pi,\u201d \u201cThe Shack,\u201d \u201cThe Blind Side\u201d), Asher Goldstein and Michael B. Jordan, and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, will be in theaters this December.<\/p>\n

In a courtroom-based story of justice and mercy, the film seems to touch on spiritual themes of redemption, grace, and forgiveness. One character proposes that \u201cEach of us is more than the worst thing we\u2019ve ever done.\u201d Stevenson also declares, \u201cWe all need grace. We all need mercy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The official synopsis follows:<\/p>\n

A powerful and thought-provoking true story, \u201cJust Mercy\u201d follows young lawyer Bryan Stevenson (Jordan) and his history-making battle for justice. After graduating from Harvard, Bryan heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned or who were not afforded proper representation, with the support of local advocate Eva Ansley (Larson). One of his first, and most incendiary, cases is that of Walter McMillian (Foxx). In 1987, Walter was sentenced to die for the notorious murder of an 18-year-old girl, despite a preponderance of evidence proving his innocence and the fact that the only testimony against him came from a criminal with a motive to lie. In the years that follow, Bryan becomes embroiled in legal and political maneuverings and overt and unabashed racism as he fights for Walter, and others like him, with the odds\u2014and the system\u2014stacked against them.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
