Dolly Parton\u2019s collaboration with Zach Williams, \u201cThere Was Jesus,\u201d recently garnered the country superstar a new career milestone, her first number one Christian song. The song, written by\u00a0Zach Williams, Jonathan Smith, and Casey Beathard, hits the top of the \u201cBillboard\u201d Christian Airplay chart for the week of Sept. 12.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving a No. 1 record at any time is a great thing, but having a No. 1 faith-based record during these crazy times is even greater,\u201d Parton told \u201cBillboard\u201d<\/a>. \u201cI feel humbled and blessed to be part of this wonderful song with Zach Williams. It does my heart good to know that we have touched the lives of so many people.\u201d<\/p>\n

The song is not Parton\u2019s first entry into the faith-based music world, having released gospel songs and albums throughout her career and recently collaborating with\u00a0contemporary Christian group 4 KING & COUNTRY on the song and video for the hit single \u201cGod Only Knows.\u201d Her upcoming \u201cHolly Dolly Christmas\u201d album will also feature the Mark Lowry\/Buddy Greene classic \u201cMary, Did You Know?\u201d<\/a>\u00a0 Parton recently told SOS Radio she hopes to do another gospel project<\/a> \u201chopefully maybe even next year (2021).\u201d \u201cThere Was Jesus\u201d is Williams\u2019 third chart-topping song, following \u201cChain Breaker\u201d and \u201cOld Church Choir.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was a pleasure to work with,\u201d Williams said of Parton after the recording. \u201c(She is) so down to earth and humble. It\u2019s been probably one of the highlights of my career so far.\u201d<\/p>\n
