On Tuesday night, \u201cThe Chosen\u201d series creator, writer, and director Dallas Jenkins revealed plans<\/a> for the first-ever big-screen event for the popular series, coming to theaters via Fathom Events on December 1 and 2. Soon after, as fans of the show began purchasing tickets, pre-sale records were shattered for the distributor, resulting in more screens being added, and even more to come.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Christmas with The Chosen: The Messengers\u2019\u00a0 broke Fathom Events\u2019 record with $1.5 million in sales in the first 12 hours,\u201d said Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Events. \u201cOriginally slated to premiere in 1079 theaters, we\u2019ve already added 450+ locations and thousands of screens to satisfy demand, and anticipate these numbers will continue to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shot entirely in secret, \u201cThe Messengers\u201d shows the birth of Christ through the eyes of Mary and Joseph and features actors from The Chosen series.<\/p>\n
