This BAFTSS SFF SIG event is partly a book launch for Doctor Who: New Dawn (recently published by Manchester University Press and edited by Brigid Cherry, Matt Hills and Andrew O’Day) and partly a chance to analyse the six-part series Doctor Who: Flux, which runs from October to December 2021. It features two contributors to New Dawn, Lorna Jowett (University of Northampton) and Matt Hills (University of Huddersfield), alongside Ross Garner (Cardiff University), who has previously worked with the Doctor Who production office. The panelists will deliver the following presentations:

Gender and Queerness in Doctor Who (Lorna Jowett)

The Thirteenth Doctor During (and After) Lockdown (Matt Hills)

Cardiff and Commerce: Doctor Who’s Locations and Futures with Bad Wolf (Ross Garner)

After these initial presentations, everyone will have a chance to ask questions and participate in a wider discussion of both Flux and the soon-to-conclude ‘Jodie Whittaker era’ of Doctor Who.

This event will take place online via Zoom. A link will be sent out on the day of the event.
