The name of the holiday is self-explanatory \u2013 or it should be. But in fact, it sits oddly beside the custom of \u201ccelebrating\u201d Black Friday \u2013 i.e. making the day after Thanksgiving a day of special sales in which people have been trampled to death trying to get those bargain items.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;text-align: none\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/exploringourmatrix\/files\/2012\/11\/wpid-Photo-Nov-21-2012-655-PM.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/exploringourmatrix\/files\/2012\/11\/wpid-Photo-Nov-21-2012-655-PM.jpg\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"294\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p> Black Friday also happens to be what some cultures call the day that in English is referred to as \u201cGood Friday.\u201d And so it is not surprising that someone tried to link the two, as in this image shared by <a href=\"http:\/\/matthewpaulturner.net\/blog\/the-greatest-most-awful-christian-facebook-meme-ever\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Jesus Needs New PR:<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;text-align: none\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/exploringourmatrix\/files\/2012\/11\/wpid-Photo-Nov-21-2012-707-PM.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/exploringourmatrix\/files\/2012\/11\/wpid-Photo-Nov-21-2012-707-PM.jpg\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"499\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>This year, \u201cBlack Friday\u201d will be starting on Thanksgiving itself. I guess that makes sense \u2013 Americans typically find it much easier to be thankful for brand new stuff than for stuff they got last year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;text-align: none\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/exploringourmatrix\/files\/2012\/11\/wpid-Photo-Nov-21-2012-653-PM.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/exploringourmatrix\/files\/2012\/11\/wpid-Photo-Nov-21-2012-653-PM.jpg\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"311\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p> Whatever one's view of the aforementioned details, many Americans are united in mourning the passing of an American icon. <a href=\"http:\/\/zwingliusredivivus.wordpress.com\/2012\/11\/17\/sad-sad-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Jim West<\/a> shared this photo from the funeral: <\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;text-align: none\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/exploringourmatrix\/files\/2012\/11\/wpid-Photo-Nov-21-2012-707-PM1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/exploringourmatrix\/files\/2012\/11\/wpid-Photo-Nov-21-2012-707-PM1.jpg\" class=\"alignnone\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>All kidding aisde, I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.
