I first encountered it on Jim Davila\u2019s Facebook feed, where it said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Jim likes :|:| 101 Hottest Women in the World \ud83d\ude00 :|:| on :|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:| :|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:| :|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|\u2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Jim\u2019s blog and Facebook had already informed us that Jim had travelled from St. Andrews to California, and so (knowing Jim\u2019s sense of humor) I expected to find some sort of joke about the heat.<\/p>\n<p>And so being a fan of Jim\u2019s sense of humor, I clicked.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sophos.com\/blogs\/gc\/images\/blogs\/gc\/2010\/06\/101-hottest-women-site.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"317\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sophos.com\/blogs\/gc\/images\/blogs\/gc\/2010\/06\/101-hottest-women-site.jpg\" width=\"320\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Instead of a joke, there was a photo of Jessica Alba.<\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t really think much of it, until a good friend of mine asked me on Facebook \u201cWhy do you like the 101 hottest women in the world?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>I regret immensely not having made any of\u00a0the numerous humorous replies\u00a0that would have been appropriate. But I remembered Jim Davila\u2019s feed item and guessed that my Facebook account was infected. <\/p>\n<p>In a sense, I\u2019m glad this happened. In looking into what application was able to post to my feed without first requesting permission,.I found an incredible number of applications that were set to allow this. And so apart from a few of Facebook\u2019s own standard apps, I switched them all off.<\/p>\n<p>You may or may not already be telling friends that you like the 101 hottest women in the world without knowing it. But even if you have not fallen victim to Facebook malware, it is worth taking a look and seeing who currently has permission to post on your wall and in your feed. You may be surprised. Revoking their permission to post without <em>your<\/em> permission will remove the spam link from your feed and avoid your spreading it to friends.
