I dispute that the day should be understood to apply equally to nerds, but that is neither here nor there. Nerds\u00a0rank above geeks in their editing of Wikipedia, and so if they say the day applies to them, geeks can do little to change public perception. (If you\u2019re unclear on the distinction, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/scott\/nerd-venn-diagram\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">click here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The day affirms certain rights and responsibilities of <a href=\"http:\/\/degiorgi.math.hr\/~vsego\/phun\/geeks.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">geeks<\/a>, which are as follows:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><u>Rights:<\/u><\/p>\n<p>1. The right to be even geekier.<\/p>\n<p>2. The right to not leave your house.<\/p>\n<p>3. The right to not like football or any other sport.<\/p>\n<p>4. The right to associate with other nerds.<\/p>\n<p>5. The right to have few friends (or none at all).<\/p>\n<p>6. The right to have as many geeky friends as you want.<\/p>\n<p>7. The right to be out of style.<\/p>\n<p>8. The right to be overweight and near-sighted.<\/p>\n<p>9. The right to show off your geekiness.<\/p>\n<p>10. The right to take over the world.<\/p>\n<p><u>Responsibilities:<\/u><\/p>\n<p>1. Be a geek, no matter what.<\/p>\n<p>2. Try to be nerdier than anyone else.<\/p>\n<p>3. If there is a discussion about something geeky, you must give your opinion.<\/p>\n<p>4. To save and protect all geeky material.<\/p>\n<p>5. Do everything you can to show off geeky stuff as a \u201cmuseum of geekiness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>6. Don\u2019t be a generalized geek. You must specialize in something.<\/p>\n<p>7. Attend every nerdy movie on opening night and buy every geeky book before anyone else.<\/p>\n<p>8. Wait in line on every opening night. If you can go in costume or at least with a related T-shirt, all the better.<\/p>\n<p>9. Never throw away anything related to geekdom.<\/p>\n<p>10.
