And our awareness about the size of the universe helpfully challenges this view of ourselves as the center of cosmic attention.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, I\u2019ve heard people who self-identify as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianpost.com\/news\/richard-dawkins-loses-debate-against-former-anglican-head-rowan-williams-at-cambridge-university-full-video-89364\/#XFKRhEhMZtbyAOvb.01\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">atheists<\/a> talk about their own worldview as having \u201ca personal relationship with reality.\u201d And <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rockandtheology.com\/?p=6719\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">depending<\/a> on what sort of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/kimberlyknight\/2013\/02\/a-lesbian-changed-through-jesus\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">language<\/a> one is comfortable using about the immense universe, and anything even greater that it may be a part of, that could well be the same thing as a personal relationship with God \u2013 even if not what Evangelicals mean by that phrase, which is itself, as most people know, a relatively recent appearance in the history of Christianity.<\/p>\n<p>Both are metaphors. And both can give expression to something meaningful.
