I wanted to mention it in my last post about 2012<\/a>\"\", but it seemed to be a separate issue and thus I decided to make it a separate post. But I feel like I have to say something about the fact that this movie, which adopts a stance as though it is forward-looking, embracing rational scientific solutions as the best path towards humanity\u2019s\u00a0future survival (albeit with the necessary funding from the private sector to make it possible).<\/p>\n

How, in this day and age, can you make a movie of this sort and still think it is OK that, when decisions are being made, only the men<\/em> get invited up to the cockpit to see what is going on and discuss what to do? Seriously, what was that about?<\/p>\n

I suppose this just shows how ingrained some ways of thinking are, and how challenging it can be to not merely embrace a new way of looking at things in theory, but genuinely implement a new paradigm.<\/div>\n

But in a movie that talks about the importance of acting in a way that will give post-apocalypse humanity a positive direction, leaving such sexism taken for granted is a serious shortcoming.<\/p>\n
