<\/a>I\u2019m curious whether anyone has ever translated the Hebrew expressions in Genesis 1 not as \u201cday one, day two\u2026\u201d or \u201cthe first day, the second day\u2026\u201d but into the English days of the week, \u201cSunday, Monday\u2026\u201d <\/p>\n

I\u2019m not sure if it would have a significant effect on the way English readers perceive the text. <\/p>\n

Do any Hebrew linguists reading this know whether the differences between the modern Hebrew for \u201cSunday\u201d and the form in which we find \u201cday one\u201d in Genesis 1:5<\/a> are indicative of a change in terms for days of the week, or a clear indication that we are dealing with numbered days rather than named days of the week? Or is this a question that could only be asked by someone like me\u00a0whose native language didn\u2019t use \u201cday+number\u201d to indicate the days?<\/p>\n

Any thoughts? Does it matter? Anyone with relevant expertise and the patience to satisfy my curiosity?<\/p>\n
