We tend to defend the things we believe. We even tend to defend the things we want to believe. But if we are going to claim to be critical\u2014and I think that\u2019s a good thing to be\u2014then we need to be critical\u00a0all the time<\/em>. That will mean that many of the theories that we espouse must be espoused tentatively, with the knowledge that we could be wrong, and the expectation that in many cases we will be.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
