<\/a><\/a>Is it just me, or was tonight\u2019s episode quite possibly one of the best ever, or at least in a long time? We\u2019ve begun to get answers, although as always not without more mysteries. Who was that boy running through the jungle? Who makes the rules?<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
But what we were served up was a treat, and perhaps brings us to the heart of the series, and perhaps explains why we are watching two timelines unfold in parallel. In one, the mysterious Jacob is looking for someone to take over the role of protector of the island. In the other, presumably the sinking of the island eliminated Jacob along with it. In one timeline, a providential hand has been moving people\u2019s lives to particular ends. <\/div>\n

Perhaps the question we are being led to ask is whether a universe in which our lives are manipulated for a \u201chigher cause\u201d is preferable to one in which they aren\u2019t.<\/div>\n
