To say, yes it is fine to find parallels, but as long as you\u2019ve only shown the parallels, you\u2019re only relying on a kind of probabilistic innuendo to make your point: you have neither analysed the false positives nor the false negatives.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On the way our brains process data and patterns, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/blogs\/bad_astronomy\/2013\/08\/03\/optical_illusion_picture_of_sand_dunes_from_space_look_like_pits.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">see also some astronomy images shared by Phil Plait<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/debunkingchristianity.blogspot.com\/2013\/08\/two-new-books-on-historicity-of-jesus.html?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+blogspot%2FypxUn+%28Debunking+Christianity%29\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">John Loftus<\/a> highlighted a couple of mythicist publications, including Robert Price\u2019s ebook, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00DKA5CSM\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B00DKA5CSM&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=jamefmcgrshom-20\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Historical Bejeezus<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important;margin: 0px !important\" src=\"https:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=jamefmcgrshom-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B00DKA5CSM\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\"><\/em>. And <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/peterenns\/2013\/08\/did-the-old-testament-predict-jesus-birth-a-nice-new-learned-short-book-tells-you\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Pete Enns<\/a> mentioned a book about prophecy, fulfillment, and the stories about Jesus\u2019 birth.<\/p>\n<p>What do others think? Surely\u00a0<em>some<\/em> claims about parallels deserve the label \u201cparallelomania,\u201d don\u2019t you think?
