I thus think that the annual Eisenbraun\u2019s contest<\/a> to compose something in an ancient Near Eastern language appropriate for Valentine\u2019s Day not only provides much-needed entertainment, but also challenges us to try our hand at not simply reading ancient texts but composing<\/em> in these languages, and thus serves a very useful purpose in encouraging linguistic proficiency.<\/p>\n
