What led it to become a focus again was the <a href=\"http:\/\/jamestabor.com\/2013\/09\/11\/renowned-dead-sea-scroll-epigrapher-emile-puech-confirms-sign-of-jonah-in-talpiot-tomb\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">report<\/a> that renowned scholar <a href=\"http:\/\/ntweblog.blogspot.com\/2013\/09\/emile-puechs-statement-on-talpiot-tomb.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Emile Puech<\/a> had agreed with the identification of the name \u201cJonah\u201d on one of the ossuaries.<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Fish or Amphora?\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_ICUeeQ68xE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<p>It turns out, <a href=\"http:\/\/zwingliusredivivus.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/15\/emile-puech-on-the-so-called-fish-talpiot-ossuary\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">as Jim West reported, sharing an e-mail from Puech<\/a>, that he feels that he was misled by <a href=\"http:\/\/jamestabor.com\/2013\/09\/16\/simcha-jacobovici-responds-to-professor-puechs-statement-regarding-his-jonah-ossuary-interview\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Simcha Jacobovici<\/a>, or rather by an associate of his who kept Jacobovici\u2019s involvement a secret.<\/p>\n<p>The plot has thickened as <a href=\"http:\/\/ntweblog.blogspot.com\/2013\/09\/a-tale-of-two-replicas.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Mark Goodacre presented evidence<\/a> that there are <a href=\"http:\/\/tomverenna.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/17\/when-is-a-replica-not-a-replica\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">two <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/tomverenna.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/17\/when-is-a-replica-not-a-replica\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">\u201creplicas\u201d<\/a>\u00a0of the ossuary in question, with significant differences in what is on them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-jF1SeuZvzJg\/Ujeh_v1htuI\/AAAAAAAADpo\/i53YNr66B0c\/s640\/Sidebyside.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"188\"><\/p>\n<p>There have been a number of <a href=\"http:\/\/aramaicdesigns.blogspot.com\/2013\/09\/robert-cargill-enforcer.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">satirical<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/unsettledchristianity.com\/2013\/09\/whoa-sleeper-agents-of-christianity-theology\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">responses<\/a>, including <a href=\"http:\/\/robertcargill.com\/2013\/09\/17\/translation-of-simcha-jacobovicis-recent-comments\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">one by Bob Cargill<\/a> that includes a serious illustration of Jacobovici\u2019s lack of concern for fact-checking \u2013 not to mention his lack of relevant linguistic skills to be making the sorts of claims that he is. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worthlessmysteries.com\/2013\/09\/james-tabor-has-asked-can-you-read.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Jack Collins\u2019 suggested alternative<\/a> to reading \u201cJonah\u201d also deserves mention, even if offered tongue-in-cheek. See also <a href=\"http:\/\/danielomcclellan.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/12\/tabor-jacobovici-and-the-cannes-film-festival\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Dan McClellan\u2019s post<\/a> on \u201cthe\u201d Cannes Film Festival, and a recent claim about a Talpiot tomb documentary winning an award.<\/p>\n<p>And unsurprisingly the criticisms offered by scholarly bloggers have provoked <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simchajtv.com\/pants-on-fire\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">a response from Jacobovich<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/aramaicdesigns.blogspot.com\/2013\/09\/robert-cargill-enforcer.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-Yp-M-la5p3Q\/UjeesbDkoRI\/AAAAAAAABBM\/1KjOTHwoqeM\/s400\/The+Enforcer+Robert+Cargill.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"277\" height=\"400\"><\/a><\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Talpiot Tomb seems to surge in and out of public attention, and thus also in and out of focus in the biblioblogosphere, on the blogs of academics who focus on Biblical studies, archaeology, and other related fields.
