\"\"I watched an old episode<\/a> of Doctor Who tonight \u2013 part 2 from the episode \u201cThe Moonbase<\/a>\u201d from season 4, early in Patrick Troughton\u2019s era. Episode 1 has been lost, although the audio survives<\/a>. A great many episodes from the early years of Doctor Who \u2013 and in particular from Patrick Troughton\u2019s time as the Doctor \u2013 have been lost or damaged so as to be unwatchable. This is unfortunate, since the Second Doctor was the one to really develop the Doctor\u2019s comical side, in a way that would inspire Tom Baker and, more recently, Matt Smith.<\/p>\n

But just because the episodes have deteriorated or destroyed and been lost, that doesn\u2019t mean that there is no way for the lost episodes to \u201cregenerate\u201d and have a new life. One approach is to animate them. Here\u2019s what one fan has done to restore part 1 of \u201cThe Moonbase.\u201d<\/p>\n
