Hemant Mehta explains<\/a> his view on the historical Jesus, miracles, and what the implications are for atheism:<\/p>\n<\/iframe>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0567447626\/ref=as_li_ss_il?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=0567447626&linkCode=as2&tag=jamefmcgrshom-20\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border: 0px\" src=\"http:\/\/ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/widgets\/q?_encoding=UTF8&ASIN=0567447626&Format=_SL110_&ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=jamefmcgrshom-20\" alt=\"\" width=\"73\" height=\"110\" border=\"0\"><\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important;margin: 0px !important\" src=\"https:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=jamefmcgrshom-20&l=as2&o=1&a=0567447626\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\">Interestingly, even <a href=\"http:\/\/vridar.org\/2013\/10\/25\/when-trusting-the-expert-consensus-is-wrong\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Neil Godfrey<\/a> agrees with Mehta on one point, that if you aren\u2019t an expert in the field of historical Jesus studies, then it is better to be agnostic about it rather than hold firmly to a view you cannot defend. Of course, Godfrey is <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/historicityofjes00case\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">wrong about Ehrman\u2019s book being the first tackling of mythicism in the field<\/a>, just as he tends to be wrong about most things related to this topic.<\/p>\n<p>And for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomsbury.com\/us\/jesus-evidence-and-argument-or-mythicist-myths-9780567447623\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">latest<\/a> from an atheist scholar tackling the arguments of mythicists, Maurice Casey\u2019s book <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0567447626\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=0567447626&linkCode=as2&tag=jamefmcgrshom-20\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Jesus: Evidence and Argument or Mythicist Myths?<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important;margin: 0px !important\" src=\"https:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=jamefmcgrshom-20&l=as2&o=1&a=0567447626\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\"><\/em> is due out next year.
