I used to see it that way, but now my view is essentially the opposite.<\/p>\n<p>If anything, the church should be a place that brings in people who confidently, arrogantly, act as though they have all the answers sorted out, and teaches them to humbly acknowledge their limitations and shortcomings, their need to learn from others, and their need to cultivate introspection and self-examination. <\/p>\n<p>Reverse the direction of the conveyor belt, and this cartoon would do a decent job of portraying what I think the church should be doing.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>David Hayward shared the cartoon below: I don&#8217;t see the church as a place that should convert humble questioners into confident (and, if the cartoon is accurate, rather grumpy-looking) exclaimers.
