{"id":2127,"date":"2009-09-10T10:04:00","date_gmt":"2009-09-10T10:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/religionprof\/2009\/09\/water-is-life\/"},"modified":"2009-09-10T10:04:00","modified_gmt":"2009-09-10T10:04:00","slug":"water-is-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/religionprof\/2009\/09\/water-is-life.html","title":{"rendered":"Water Is Life"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<\/head>I recently had drawn to my attention the work of a charity called \u201cWater Is Life\u201d<\/a>, which is working to address issues of illness caused by lack of clean water through the development and distribution of a filter straw<\/em> through which one can drink safely. It seems to me a clever and helpful way of addressing this issue \u2013 in many ways simpler and perhaps even less expensive than establishing centralized water purification facilities and means of distribution. Obviously the latter are desirable in the long term, but this seems to me to be a brilliant and effective short-term solution to an urgent problem, which apparently affects even communities that have a source of clean water, when children drink from elsewhere.<\/p>\n
