I think it shows the real harm that popular forms of conservative Christianity has done to the reputation of Jesus. What kinds of things are included in the \u201clook back\u201d? Alleged miracles, for the most part, including especially more recent ones like appearing on toast or football victories.<\/p>\nFrom my own progressive Christian perspective, if Jesus\u2019 life is worth looking back upon and remembering today, it is for his transgression of boundaries, his touching of the unclean, his embracing of those whom the pious viewed as sinners, and his challenge to self-righteous piety. It is as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/sarahoverthemoon\/2014\/02\/was-jesus-progressive-for-his-time\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">progressive figure within history<\/a>, not as someone who supposedly came crashing into it from outside in order to perform a few impressive supernatural feats for the benefit of those who lavish him with praise.<\/p>\nWhat would you put in a \u201cLook Back\u201d video about Jesus, if you were trying to focus on the things that you consider genuinely important?<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Hemant Mehta shared this irreverent Facebook look back video for Jesus.
