I will embed the first part below, but click through<\/a> to see the rest, including the slides posted separately.<\/p>\n<\/iframe>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 16.899999618530273px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/io9.com\/why-are-all-these-physicists-in-a-weird-creationist-doc-1560470757\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">IO9 (among others) raised the question<\/a> once again of how some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/friendlyatheist\/2014\/04\/08\/new-documentary-narrated-by-star-treks-kate-mulgrew-and-with-atheist-interviewees-says-the-sun-circles-the-earth\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">top-notch physicists<\/a> \u2013 and <a href=\"http:\/\/mobile.rawstory.com\/all\/2014-04-07-star-trek-actress-lends-her-gravitas-to-film-promoting-idea-that-sun-revolves-around-earth?width=1024&height=651&size=large&olcts=1396926021846\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">a starship captain<\/a>! \u2013 came to be involved in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/blogs\/bad_astronomy\/2014\/04\/08\/the_principle_a_documentary_about_geocentrism.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">a documentary arguing in favor of geocentrism<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/io9.com\/cosmos-explains-why-science-is-a-light-in-the-darkness-1559677794\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">IO9 also posted about Cosmos and light<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 16.899999618530273px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.religiondispatches.org\/archive\/atheologies\/7749\/noah__cosmos_controversies_not_about_biblical_literalism\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Religion Dispatches clarified<\/a> that it is Biblicism \u2013 one\u2019s stated view about the Bible\u2019s authority \u2013 rather than \u201cBiblical literalism\u201d that is the real issue when conservative Christians complain about Noah, and fail to complain about other films.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/freethoughtblogs.com\/pharyngula\/2014\/04\/08\/so-thats-how-biblical-literalism-works\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">PZ Myers<\/a> managed to make the same point more succinctly, by showing how one conservative Christian \u201creads\u201d and interprets the Declaration of Independence as being anti-Hindu and anti-evolution:<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"RWW News: Michael Peroutka Claims Evolution Is 'Anti-American'\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3Y4EKAvW3kQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<p>See also <a href=\"http:\/\/rachelheldevans.com\/blog\/faith-unraveled-release-day-evolving-in-monkey-town\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the re-release of one of Rachel Held Evans\u2019 books<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/articles\/2014\/04\/06\/meet-the-prizewinning-catholic-biologist-creationists-can-t-stand.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">an article about Ken Miller in the <em>Daily Beast<\/em><\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/sandwalk.blogspot.com\/2014\/04\/how-can-idiot-students-stump-science.html#more\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Larry Moran drawing attention to an ID proponent\u2019s list of questions that he thinks will \u201cstump\u201d science professors<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-22875\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/exploringourmatrix\/files\/2014\/04\/mendell-img.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"340\"><\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A talk offering visualizations of ancient cosmologies came to my attention.
