{"id":23763,"date":"2014-05-22T12:58:58","date_gmt":"2014-05-22T16:58:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/religionprof\/?p=23763"},"modified":"2014-05-22T12:58:58","modified_gmt":"2014-05-22T16:58:58","slug":"lamech-and-other-christologies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/religionprof\/2014\/05\/lamech-and-other-christologies.html","title":{"rendered":"Lamech and Other Christologies"},"content":{"rendered":"<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><head><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><\/head><body><p>Here\u2019s a round-up of some interesting recent blog posts on Christology:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cataclysmicblog.com\/2014\/05\/20\/a-lamech-christology\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Mike Skinner<\/a> highlighted <a href=\"http:\/\/experimentaltheology.blogspot.com\/2012\/07\/the-song-of-lamech-is-not-song-of-lamb.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">a post by Richard Beck<\/a>, contrasting Jesus and Lamech, which concludes poignantly that \u201cThe Song of Lamech is not the Song of the Lamb.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Perriman makes the case that <a href=\"http:\/\/postost.net\/2014\/05\/jesus-included-divine-identity\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Jesus is\u00a0<em>not\u00a0<\/em>included in the \u201cdivine identity\u201d in 1 Corinthians 8:6<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Larry Hurtado has had several posts on Christology on his blog recently, focusing on subjects such as <a href=\"http:\/\/larryhurtado.wordpress.com\/2014\/05\/20\/early-jesus-devotion-underscoring-key-points\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">early devotion to Christ<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/larryhurtado.wordpress.com\/2014\/05\/14\/jesus-and-christology-the-gospel-of-john-as-case-study\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the Gospel of John and the post-Easter perspective\u2019s impact on Christology<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/larryhurtado.wordpress.com\/2014\/05\/15\/jesus-pre-existence-etc-responding-to-questions\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">a response to various questions<\/a> about topics such as pre-existence.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">The Koinonia blog has two excerpts from the response book. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.koinoniablog.net\/2014\/05\/did-jesus-claim-he-was-god-an-excerpt-from-how-god-became-jesus.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">One focuses on the New Testament depictions of Jesus as exercising divine functions<\/a>, the other is more of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.koinoniablog.net\/2014\/05\/the-gospel-according-to-bart-ehrman-an-excerpt-from-how-god-became-jesus.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">an overview of points of agreement and disagreement<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/michaeljkruger.com\/did-jesus-really-become-god-my-review-of-bart-ehrmans-latest\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Michael Kruger<\/a> inexplicably believes that Ehrman\u2019s view, that Jesus did not claim to be God, is harder to sustain than his own viewpoint, which reads later Christology back into the earliest texts in a manner that requires heavy-handed dogmatism and the use of a crowbar.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here\u2019s a round-up of some interesting recent blog posts on Christology: Mike Skinner highlighted a post by Richard Beck, contrasting Jesus and Lamech, which concludes poignantly that \u201cThe Song of Lamech is not the Song of the Lamb.\u201d Andrew Perriman makes the case that Jesus is\u00a0not\u00a0included in the \u201cdivine identity\u201d in 1 Corinthians 8:6.
