<\/iframe>\n<\/p><p>The video above features politicians reprehensibly appealing to the Bible as though it can be used to discount the evidence for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.motherjones.com\/environment\/2014\/05\/cosmos-tyson-sagan-climate-change-episode\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">climate change<\/a>, or the likelihood that its long-term impact with be catastrophic.<\/p>\n<p>It would make more sense to argue from the fact that there never was a worldwide flood, that non-coastal regions will probably survive, than to argue from the mythical story of the flood that flooding can never happen again.<\/p>\n<p>But that argument won\u2019t carry weight with conservative Christians, and so it is a good thing that Chris Mooney, in <a href=\"http:\/\/m.motherjones.com\/environment\/2014\/05\/inquiring-minds-katharine-hayhoe-faith-climate\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">an article in\u00a0<em>Mother Jones<\/em><\/a>, turned to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/religionprof\/2014\/05\/scientist-and-christian.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Katharine Hayhoe, an Evangelical Christian<\/a>, for arguments that show why even conservatives ought to reject climate change denialism. <a href=\"http:\/\/m.motherjones.com\/environment\/2014\/05\/inquiring-minds-katharine-hayhoe-faith-climate\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Click through to read them<\/a>.
