Given my field, I particularly appreciated his treatment of the Book of Job:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Anonymous\u2019 \u201cThe Book of Job\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre you sure this is part of the Bible?\u201d asked many respondents, who also exhibited intense unease with God\u2019s actions, as they did with Job\u2019s questions. The mounting suspense in waiting for God to reply adversely impacted many students (as did the irritation factor supplied by Job\u2019s friends).<\/p>\n<p>While the groups\u2019 expectations were raised when a voice came from the whirlwind, they were deflated by the voice\u2019s answers \u2014 which, according to one respondent, weren\u2019t answers at all. (\u201cLike my parents, only worse.\u201d) At the end of the session, a palpable sense of dread, along with isolated cases of fear and trembling, were in evidence \u2014 all matters of concern for our office.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.insidehighered.com\/views\/2014\/06\/03\/trigger-warnings-homer-machiavelli-and-bible-essay#sthash.Q1T4HjBE.dpbs\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Click through<\/a> to read the rest of the article.
