Unfortunately it seems that David Opderbeck\u2019s<\/a> e-mail account has been hacked and used to send a scam<\/a> message to those in his address book. Either that or he really is in trouble and just happened to use the exact same words in his plea for help that have been used in scam messages in the past<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the text of the message:<\/p>\n

I\u2019m writing this with tears in my eyes. I came down here to London, United
Kingdom for a short vacation unfortunately I was mugged at the park of the
hotel where I stayed, all cash, credit card and cell phone were stolen off me
but luckily for me I still have my passport with me.<\/p>\n

I have been to the embassy and the Police here but they\u2019re not helping issues
at all and my flight leaves in few hours from now but I\u2019m having problems
settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won\u2019t let me leave until I
settle the bills.<\/p>\n

I need urgent help.I\u2019m freaked out at the moment.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Presumably the scammer who sent it didn\u2019t know that London is not a place you \u201ccome down to\u201d from New Jersey.<\/p>\n
