In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.postost.net\/2015\/01\/man-woman-one-flesh-are-we-just-obsessed-sex\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">one post, highlighting that sex is not the focus in Genesis 2<\/a>, he notes that it is the similarity of the woman to the man, and not her difference from him, that is highlighted. That post is part of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.postost.net\/2015\/01\/james-brownson-one-flesh-same-sex-unions\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">series<\/a> about a book by James Brownson, <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0802868630\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=0802868630&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=jamefmcgrshom-20&amp;linkId=TAMBPO5MZHCWUTGJ\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Bible, Gender, Sexuality: Reframing the Church\u2019s Debate on Same-Sex Relationships<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important;margin: 0px !important\" src=\"https:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=jamefmcgrshom-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=0802868630\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\"><\/i>. Here is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.postost.net\/2015\/01\/summary-james-brownson-argument-bible-gender-sexuality\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">a link to Andrew\u2019s summary<\/a> of the book\u2019s argument. He also focuses particular attention on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.postost.net\/2015\/04\/judgment-kingdom-sexual-immorality\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Paul\u2019s argument in Romans<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.postost.net\/2015\/01\/same-sex-unions-eschatological-perspective\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">eschatological context of Paul\u2019s perspective<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Also related to this is Lucy Peppiatt\u2019s book about 1 Corinthians, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/jesuscreed\/2015\/04\/13\/paul-and-the-women-of-corinth\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Scot McKnight<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.derekleman.com\/2015\/04\/21\/book-review-women-and-worship-at-corinth\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Derek Leman<\/a> have blogged about: <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00WAL6YPM\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B00WAL6YPM&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=jamefmcgrshom-20&amp;linkId=H7IIHUE6S4E4UJB3\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Women and Worship at Corinth: Paul\u2019s Rhetorical Arguments in 1 Corinthians<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important;margin: 0px !important\" src=\"https:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=jamefmcgrshom-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B00WAL6YPM\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\"><\/i>. The point made in that book in relation to 1 Corinthians is much that which has been made about the section in Romans 1 which is often quoted in relation to homosexuality. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/exploringourmatrix\/2013\/02\/who-are-you-o-man-maybe-the-author-of-wisdom-of-solomon.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">I have blogged previously<\/a> about the fact that Paul may there be adopting the persona of someone else\u2019s view, in order to then turn on that person and rebuke them.<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/exploringourmatrix\/2008\/02\/the-golden-rule-vs-slavery.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">attention to individual passages risks missing the point<\/a>, much as debates about the household codes in the New Testament epistles missed\u00a0how the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/exploringourmatrix\/2013\/03\/principles-vs-passages.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">key principle of the Golden Rule leads naturally to a rejection of slavery<\/a>.
