The image is by Matt Page<\/a> and has the title \u201cThe Faith of Anakin.\u201d I was really struck when I came across this Star Wars akedah on Imgur<\/a>. I\u2019m not entirely sure what to make of it.\u00a0But I suppose that one reflection that can be offered is that Anakin Skywalker does better than Abraham in their respective stories<\/a>. When it comes time to sacrifice his son for the sake of his lord, Anakin refuses to go through with it. And so the climactic finale of Return of the Jedi can be viewed as an inversion of the Abraham and Isaac story in Genesis.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not sure what Obi-Wan\u2019s role in the image is supposed to be.\u00a0Presumably he is taking the place of the angel that stops Abraham, but that makes little sense in relation to the Star Wars story.<\/p>\n
