I found myself wondering whether we ever have sayings misattributed to non-historical figures. And if not, does that have any bearing on the historicity of Jesus?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/inkpaperpen.wordpress.com\/2014\/12\/20\/misattributed-quotes\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Ink Paper Pen blog<\/a> has some other examples of sayings which were originally anonymous\u00a0or by someone who is not famous, and were subsequently attributed to famous people. And <a href=\"http:\/\/www.porterblepeople.com\/2015\/09\/academic-catchphrase-help-sourcing-a-calvin-quote-on-muzzling-dogs\/#sthash.UskOFnSV.dpbs\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Chris Porter has been trying to track down the source of a quote attributed to John Calvin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9054\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/exploringourmatrix\/files\/2012\/08\/Jesus-said.png\" alt=\"Jesus said\" width=\"286\" height=\"337\"><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019ve blogged in the past about sayings which were attributed to various figures \u2013 Mother Teresa and Reinhold Niebuhr \u2013 while others have addressed Albert Einstein\u00a0and Josh Groban.
