A BBC TV show on Asherah<\/a> \u2013 the consort of Yahweh in ancient Israel before a reformation\/revolution resulted in the eventual elimination of her worship and the denunciation and demotion of her in Biblical texts \u2013 is getting some attention around the blogosphere<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jim Davila<\/a> and Joel Watts<\/a> have brief mentions, while Doug Chaplin<\/a> offers a longer complaint that the show is being hyped when in fact there is nothing new here.<\/p>\n

The show features Dr.\u00a0Francesca Stavrakopoulou<\/a>, whose book on religious diversity in ancient Israel<\/a>\"\" was highlighted on Daniel McClellan\u2019s blog<\/a> recently.<\/span>

Alas, Dr. Stavrakopolou seems not to have a blog of her own.<\/span>

Finally, let me also mention that Adrian Worsfold has noticed by mention of his recent post<\/a>, and offered some further thoughts \u2013 including a mention of Dr. Who. And almost as if to illustrate what it might mean to be a follower of a fully human, fallible Jesus \u2013 or at least reflect on the religious significance of Jesus understood in this way \u2013 \u00a0John Shuck preached on Jesus changing his mind about a Syro-Phoenician woman<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
