Sometimes because we don\u2019t know the cultural context, or the\u00a0ways that letters were produced in that time. Sometimes because <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/religionprof\/2012\/07\/dont-let-the-fact-that-pauls-letters-are-now-christian-scripture-undermine-their-message-and-authority.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">they have become part of a collection known as the Bible, which interferes with readers today treating them as what they originally were \u2013 letters from one human being to others<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 The idea for this joke came about in my Sunday school class yesterday.\u00a0We have been studying 1 Corinthians, and found ourselves talking about what made Paul\u2019s letters persuasive before they were scripture.
