Among them my favorite was his arrangement of music from Ambroise Thomas\u2019 opera <em>Mignon<\/em>, known to all Suzuki violinists for the Gavotte, which is featured (in a much fancier and more impressive form) in Sarasate\u2019s arrangement.<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>At the end of the program, Shaham was surprised with the 2008 Avery Fisher Award, which I understand is the highest honor given in the United States to a solo instrumentalist.<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Congratulations, Gil Shaham! And those readers who have never heard him play are encouraged to have a listen.
