The Fellowship is funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation within a larger project to catalog recently digitized Eastern Christian manuscripts.<\/p>\n<p>Under the guidance of Dr. Anton Pritula, Lead Cataloger of Eastern Christian Manuscripts, the Cataloging Fellow will undertake original cataloging of digital manuscript surrogates at HMML as well as revision of existing cataloging. Most of these manuscripts are unknown to the larger scholarly world. The Fellow will therefore not only deepen skills in manuscript description but will also have the opportunity to discover and study previously unknown manuscripts.<\/p>\n<p>The Fellowship is full-time, and residency at HMML for the term of the fellowship is required. The Cataloging Fellow will report to the Lead Cataloger of Eastern Christian Manuscripts. The Fellowship offers an annual stipend of $40,000 plus fringe benefits, including participation in Saint John\u2019s University employee medical and dental insurance plans.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Original cataloging of Arabic (including Garshuni), Syriac, and possibly Coptic manuscripts from HMML\u2019s digitization projects in the Middle East, India, and Africa.<\/li>\n<li>Correction and standardization of existing cataloging.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Earned doctorate in history, theology, classics, Semitic languages, or cognate field.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Knowledge of Arabic (including Garshuni) and Syriac, and associated literatures; familiarity with Arabic literature beyond the Christian tradition is desirable. Coptic is not required but would be a desirable.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Direct experience of research using manuscripts, and ideally of description\/cataloging of manuscripts.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>Experience with digital research in the humanities; ease with the use of common software and ability to understand and work with HMML\u2019s digital platforms and tools.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Good communication skills in both written and spoken English.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>Attention to detail; accuracy and thoroughness in work habits; ability to manage multiple, complex tasks.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>APPLICATION PROCESS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications are accepted online at <a href=\"https:\/\/bumail.butler.edu\/owa\/redir.aspx?C=etUBM-Lch02uJtFWh-ui92fEMkzif9MI-wZO54LUo_zn-NKMqbKg48UxrGn8TN-Rq0x7h3ss5B4.&amp;URL=http%3a%2f%2femployment.csbsju.edu%2f\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/employment.csbsju.edu\/<\/a>.
